Job Description

What you’ll do:
Lead a development team that is on their third generation of a hand-held reader. Work on an ARM-based SoC (Cypress PSoC 63) to build a battery-operated, medical device for a point-of-care/in-field bacteria and protein detection.
● Embedded software development in C
● Working with SPI, I2C, UART and a little USB (via FTDI chip)
● PCB design and layout (mostly revisions to existing designs)
● Silicon die layout (no semiconductors)
● Silicon fabrication at an off-site facility
● GUI programming (Python and emWin)
● Creating unit tests for V&V
● Creating a coding style guide
● Developing on PLT test machine for testing assemble PCBs
● Running code reviews
● Managing AWS databases

Required qualifications and/or past experiences:
● Hardware development including battery powered, multiprocessor and wireless systems
● Creating and executing of test plans for hardware and software validation
● Skilled in C programming language
● Firmware development, testing and debugging
● Experience in electrical hardware design from schematic to PCB layout (Eagle/Altium).
● Testing using oscilloscopes, function generators, substitution boxes, etc
● Assist writing technical reports and assist with research proposals
● Collaborate with various cross-functional team (electronic, mechanical, R&D, regulatory, quality and manufacturing)

What you need to be successful:
● Passion for developing new products
● 3-5 years of related engineering experience
● Hardware hacking and puzzle solving

What will make you stand out:
• Communicating with vendors well
• Experience developing real-time, bare-metal-based microcontroller systems in C
• Medical device development is a definite plus
• Basic circuit design with I/O intensive microcontrollers
• Soldering skills with small parts. We stop at 0402s, but we welcome you to the 0201 challenge
• Experience with analog design techniques (A/D, D/A, op-amps, etc).
• Technical writing skills
• Working in regulated development environments
● Passion for small, cross-functional, development teams
