Job Description

Northrop Grumman Information Systems is seeking a Systems Engineer (Unix/Linux/Windows) 2/3 to work with our team of qualified, diverse individuals based in the Reston, VA area. The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's ISR Division engaged in Software Systems Development for USG customers.

The selected candidate will interface directly with software developers, verification engineers, system engineers and information security engineers, and is expected to have experience in analyses and total systems solutions for system network engineering, hardware evaluation, systems and network security, and server/desktop virtualization.

Specific Responsibilities include:

Analyzes systems and solutions from concept, design, development, test, installation, operation and maintenance; implements concepts and designs once approved at customer board review
Determines and if handed requirements, assesses, customer requirements; from those requirements, develops designs and recommended solutions.
Prepares briefing/presentation for customer board review of the proposed designs and recommended solutions, including schedule and cost data/information.
Make recommendations for overall network infrastructure and system configurations, communication mechanisms, etc.
Performs trade studies as part of the development and presentation of recommended solutions and designs.


Qualifications

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Basic Qualifications: (This requisition may be filled at either a level 2 or a level 3)

Systems Engineer 2: BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent technical degree and 2 years of systems engineering and/or systems integration experience. (2 Years with Bachelors in Science; 4 Years with Associates in Science; 6 Years with High School/GED);
Systems Engineer 3: BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering and 5 years of systems engineering and/or systems integration experience (3 Years with Masters in Science; 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Associates in Science; 9 Years with High School/GED) Experience working across cross platform networks consisting of Unix, Linux and Windows Server 2008/2012
Knowledge of Active Directory including forests, root and child domains, MS Exchange,
Experience in Virtual environments including VMWare -ESX and VDI
Experience working with routers, switches and firewalls
Applicant must be able to work in a team environment with the engineering users and other systems administrators as well as work with other computer/facility support organizations and work well multi-tasking various related efforts
Must have good communications skills, both written and verbal and will be responsible for documentation of all aspects of various system installation and configuration efforts step-by-step
Must possess current Security + Certification with appropriate Compute Environment certifications (Linux, Windows, etc.) in compliance with DOD Directive 8570.01 requirements
Current TS/SCI w/Poly required
