We are looking for a qualified Radar Technician – SPS-67/73 Radars in Virginia Beach.

MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE DOD SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE

Job Summary:

The candidate will support the In-Service Engineering Agent (ISEA) for the SPS-73(V)18 Next Generation Surface Search Radar (NGSSR) in the areas of technical support, field change installations, operator/maintainer training, performance evaluation, technical documentation, maintenance procedures, and underway testing, and will assist fleet units in maintenance and troubleshooting. He/she will serve as the ISEA’s Subject Matter Expert for the radar as part of direct fleet support responsibility. He/she will document the results of maintenance, troubleshooting, and problem-resolution actions accomplished while onboard. He/she will also provide distance support troubleshooting for fleet CASREPs and requests for technical assistance.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Support engineering efforts related to the design, testing, and analysis of NGSSR radar upgrades or modifications

Provide operator/maintainer training to the ship’s force upon completion of new installations

Support technical documentation upgrades or modifications required as a result of system improvements

Install Field Changes in accordance with Navy shipboard installation processes

Assist in the development of Ship Installation Drawings (SIDs) and Ship Alteration Records (SAR), which reflect system installation plans and configurations

Prepare lab and classrooms spaces in support of radar upgrades (new acquisition and legacy systems) and modifications

Act as liaison with Regional Maintenance Centers (RMCs) to ensure proper processing of installation data and schedule requirements necessary for the unimpeded check-in processing of Alteration Installation Teams (AITs)
Perform post-installation System Operational Verification Test (SOVT) and On-the-Job Training (OJT)


Required Qualifications and Skills:

Associates degree in Technical Field/Technical Certificate, or Navy NEC for SPS-67/73
4 of relevant experience, 6+ preferred

Practical experience with training, preventative maintenance, technical documentation, parts support, technical reports, and documenting maintenance and troubleshooting activities.

Familiar with shipboard safety procedures, including electrical safety, electrical tag-outs, working procedures, hazardous material handling, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) aloft

Working knowledge of Change Requests & Engineering Change Proposals.

Familiar with Navy Logistics Support elements, including configuration management, onboard allowance, and supply support.

Interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills

Personal computer skills (competent with MS Office applications).


Desired Qualifications and Skills:

Experience with delivering technical training

Familiar with the US Navy installation planning process

Practical experience maintaining and troubleshooting shipboard radar systems in general (required), AN/SPS-67 or AN/SPS-73 radars in particular
