We are looking for a qualified Computer-Aided Design/Drafting Specialist located in Virginia Beach.

MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE DOD SECRET SECURITY CLEARANCE

Job Summary:

The candidate will be responsible for developing and maintaining design and installation drawings for Navy electronic equipment. Generate solid and surface models using CAD software to produce design drafts for project approval. Maintain and modify ship installation drawings developed by the design yard for various ship classes and generate modifications for delivery of as-built drawings.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Modification and maintenance of Ship Installation Drawings provided by Navy design shipyards
Development and maintenance of electronic and mechanical equipment design drawings
Modification and maintenance of Installation Control Drawings developed by the Original Equipment Manufacturers

Required Qualifications and Skills:

Proven work experience as a CAD Drafter or a similar job position.
Professional certification in Computer-Aided Design and American Design Drafting Association (ADDA) is a plus
Extensive knowledge of various CAD software packages
Good knowledge of engineering principles
Ability to work in a team environment
Good time management skills
Detail-oriented and creative
Excellent interpersonal and mathematical skills
Outstanding oral and written communication skills
Exceptional active listening skills
Ability to meet deadlines and ability to multitask


Desired Qualifications and Skills:

A Drafter with expertise in PTC Creo and/or AutoCAD is required.
A minimum of three years of experience developing 2D drawings is needed.
The drafter must have experience working across the domain of shipyard, planning yard, installation drawings, and product drawings.
A Secret clearance is required.
Additional skills desirable include experience in Environmental Qualification Tests (EQT), experience in the design and fabrication of metal components, experience with analysis of safety factors, and expertise in working with configuration management systems for drawings.
