RF Design Engineer
AMEWAS, Inc. is seeking an experienced RF Design Engineer for the US Navy’s Integrated Combat Environments Division at the Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, MD. The Next Generation Electronic Warfare Environment Generator (NEWEG), is a tri-service modeling and simulation (M&S) program that will represent the modern (current and future) RF electromagnetic environment. The qualified candidate will act in a Lead RF Engineering role, having a mix of technical expertise and experience and motivated to achieve technical success on a complex engineering project.
The position of RF Design Engineer involves both research and development functions. The responsibilities include engineering design and analysis, interface development, prototype evaluation and testing, system integration, process and material review, failure analysis, progress reporting, design and program reviews, vendor and customer visits, and proposal preparation.
The incumbent oversees or performs design and development work for new or improved RF technologies leading to products which meet the NEWEG Program performance and cost objectives. This position will assess vendor designs, oversee development, and test leading-edge simulated radar and communications signal generation technologies. The individual will be given system design engineering lead responsibility for large portions of a geometrical and signal modeling subsystem. Additionally, the individual will participate in design and integration of interfaces to other NEWEG subsystems. The incumbent will coordinate primarily with supporting software engineers, systems engineers, and SIGINT analysts, and will be responsible for insuring that the overall design is adequately documented. Additionally, the incumbent shall interface with testing engineering, vendors, on-site and off-site customers.
All candidates must be US citizens and have and then maintain a current DoD SECRET security clearance, or higher.
Desired Qualifications/Experience
- MSEE or BSEE with a minimum of 5 years RF experience
- Strong RF Lead Design and Analysis Experience
- RF system design, component selection, procurement, and oversight of prototype hardware and firmware
- Familiar with current state-of-the-art RF source technology (DDS, fast-tuning synthesizers, coherent processing, wide BW devices, etc.)
- Highly Experienced in IDD and ICD development
- Real-time System Development Experience
- Experience in RF Digital Signal Processing
- Support System Architecture analysis, trade studies, and participate in associated engineering reviews.
- Actively participate in the development and review of H/W and S/W requirements documents, test/integration plans and unit testing.
- Determine processing, bandwidth and memory requirements.
- Partition design into control functions, geometry processing and signal state machine.
- Very strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills.
- Working knowledge of project management processes and procedures.
- Ability to learn new skills and assume Lead role responsibilities.
- Ability to work cooperatively in team environment.
